NOTES ABOUT THE CALENDAR:                                                                                                                                          page 2

Full Year vs. School Year :

* FULL YEAR (FY) – refers to children enrolled in a calendar year which INCLUDES Public School Vacation, as noted above, as well as Summer Camp.

 * SCHOOL YEAR (SY) –  refers to children enrolled in a calendar year which DOES NOT INCLUDE Public School Vacations. Children attending SY may have the options of adding some of the vacation days for an additional fee, as noted on the calendar above. It also means that Fridays and Holidays children enrolled for SY will be dismissed early.

Changes to the calendar are sometimes unavoidable. Parents will be notified of changes as soon as possible.

Substitutions for missed days: There are NO substitutions or exchanges for sick days, vacation days, or holidays.

Professional Development Days: There may be 2 full or partial days when JPL will be closed to allow staff to attend educational conferences: one Jewish Early Childhood Conferences, the other is for the Preschool Association of Lexington Conference (see dates marked in the calendar.) Definite closing times will be announced.

Jewish Holidays

·         It is said that Jewish holidays are never on-time; they are both “so early this year” or “so late this year” – and they are “never convenient.”  Since we have no control over the timing, please join our Chabad Center for holiday celebrations.

·         Before a Jewish holiday – Erev Chag, we dismiss early (see calendar for times) to allow staff to get home on time to properly prepare for the holiday. Dismissal times vary on such days.

We do NOT automatically add days at the end of the year to make up for “snow days.”
